Vitalism and Tallow

Most tallow companies are upfront about the nutrient profile of tallow. It is great information for our highly discerning customers. We know they are thinking deeply about what goes on their body if they’ve found tallow.

A separate blog post analyses tallow and its components. It’s fascinating, exciting and important for understanding why you’d choose tallow over another essential fat in your skin routine.

When I studied Functional Nutrition, I knew I’d chosen the right course for me from Day 1 – Module 1 - Lesson 1.

We learned a philosophy that stood in the face of “Reductionism”, the approach we are accustomed in modern Western Science.

Reductionism breaks nature into simple concepts to understand them. This phenomenon has led to incredible advances and insights.

I loved the unique philosophical underpinning of my course.

“Vitalism” was taught and carried through our course and cultivated into our thinking at large.

Vitalism reminds us that organisms are dynamic and complex; they exist in delicate flux with our environment. Its influence transcends the physical form, incorporating biographical, social, and cultural constructs.

Vitalism respects this complexity, the innate intelligence underpinning the frameworks that contribute to a well-functioning human body.

Vitalism exists in stark contrast to the reductionist education I invested in as a critical care Registered Nurse. Two plus decades in the industry left me yearning for a more whole approach.
